YSR congressional government failed to enforce ban, says Anitha
” Government. playing with the health of the poor by selling cheap and fake alcohol at higher prices â
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State Chairman Mahila Wing, V. Anitha, criticized the state government’s decision to rationalize VAT and additional excise taxes on alcohol. Alleging that the YSR Congress Party government has completely failed in implementing its ban promise, she said the government is extorting money from the poor and playing with their health by selling cheap alcohol. and fake at higher prices.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP office here on Sunday, Ms Anitha said that last year Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed he had raised alcohol prices to introduce a ban total and keep it out of the reach of ordinary people. . But the point is, the state government has made millions of rupees from the sale of alcohol, she said. She alleged that the government set sales targets for officials and that targets have been reviewed by IAS officers from time to time. She also questioned the government’s inability to facilitate online payment in wine merchants.
The rise in the price of alcohol has led to a sharp increase in the use of identity arack and the smuggling of cannabis. She alleged that many people who had consumed brands of alcohol, sold by the government of Andhra Pradesh, suffered from serious health problems.
Ms Anitha also wondered what members of the AP Mahila Commission and the women leaders of the YSR Congress Party were doing when the government took no action to implement the ban.
