The previous congressional government never worked for the development of the Barak valley: Sarbananda Sonowal



Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said the previous congressional government never worked for the region’s development and therefore the region remained underdeveloped.

Sonowal attended a rally organized on the sidelines of the filing of nominations by seven candidates from the BJP and its allies in Cachar.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said that under the BJP government, the Barak Valley has witnessed a new development paradigm in Barak. The previous Congressional government never worked for the development of the Barak Valley and as a result the region remained underdeveloped. However, under the current BJP government there has been a turnaround as the residents of the Barak Valley have witnessed comprehensive development in all sectors.

He also said that the current BJP-led government, driven by the Prime Minister’s Sabka Ka Sath Sabka Biswas and Sabka Viswas mantra, was responding to the aspirations of the people of the Barak Valley. He also said that following the development speeches promoted by the BJP government in the Barak valley, the people of the valley decided to bring the BJP back to power for the second time.

Sonowal also attended the nomination process for BJP Sipajhar constituency candidate Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi.

Sonowal said the BJP-led government came to power in 2016 with some promises, as the government managed to keep its promises, which improved the lives of the people. As a result, people’s confidence in the government has increased in multiple ways.
