Santa Cruz County Bank Announces Launch of New Asset-Based Lending Division Led by Lee Shodiss and Shelly Medina

The Bank’s Asset Based Lending Division is headed by Lee Shodisan industry veteran with 30 years of asset and innovation markets experience serving Silicon Valley and technology hubs across the country. Shelly Medina leads the Asset-Based Lending division as Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Shodiss joined the Bank as Senior Vice President and Head of Asset Backed Lending (ABL) in April 2022. Mr. Shodiss’ 30-year career in the financial services industry includes expertise in technology-driven factoring, structured finance and commercial banking, including supporting emerging growth businesses to guarantee debt, provide restructurings and collateral reviews to lenders. His entrepreneurial acumen in the business sector is evidenced by the creation and expansion of three asset- and technology-based lending units totaling over $2 billion in foundations.

Mr. Shodiss founded and led the Technology and Bridge Capital Finance divisions of Bridge Bank. He served as Founder, Executive Vice President, Regional Director/Product Line Manager and was responsible for all aspects of divisional operations including sales, personnel, budgeting and credit. Mr. Shodiss held several positions at Silicon Valley Bank from 1994 to 2002, with increased responsibilities from Assistant Vice President to Senior Vice President, Co-Group Head for the Bank’s Specialty Finance Division. Early in his career as a budget analyst, cost controller at Lockheed Missiles & Space, Inc., Mr. Shodiss monitored and administered contract costs associated with defense contracts ranging from $25 million for $500 million.

Shelly Medina joined the Bank as Senior Vice President and ABL Operations Manager in May 2022.

Ms. Medina has 34 years of banking experience with extensive experience in asset-based lending, factoring and lending transactions with major regional and national financial institutions. She is well respected as a team leader and specialist in the field of loan documentation and commercial loan operations. Ms. Medina was the founding Chief Operating Officer of the Bridge Capital Finance Group at Bridge Bank and most recently served as Divisional Head of Loan Origination and Senior Vice President at Western Alliance Bank, where she implemented factoring and ABL platforms, drafted lending operations policies, and managed a lending documentation and operations unit as well as a factoring operations unit. Earlier in her career, she worked at Silicon Valley Bank where she held the position of Team Leader for Specialty Finance. Loan documents and operations specialist.
