Election for party chairman has brought new vigor and will help rejuvenate Congress across the country, says former CM Narayanasamy

On Monday, twenty-nine eligible members of the Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee joined the rest of the Congress party officials in the country to vote to elect a new chairman for the big old party.

Voting began around 10 a.m. at the CCP office in the presence of Returning Officer Hibi Eden, MP from Kerala, who was appointed by the Central Election Authority to oversee the electoral process in the Union Territory.

Those who voted included Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, MP V. Vaithilingam, PCC Leader AV Subramanian, Party Legislator Mr. Vaithianathan, Former Ministers E. Valsaraj, Mr. Kandasamy, MOHF Shahjahan, R. Kamalakannan, former government whip. RKR Anantharaman and PCC Vice President and AICC Coordinator PK Devadoss.

Mr Eden also cast his vote at the CCP office as he was unable to travel to Kerala in time after completing the ballot process in the Union Territory.

Speaking to reporters from the CCP office, Narayanasamy said, “The election as party chairman has brought new vigor and will help rejuvenate Congress across the country. I am sure whoever gets elected will be working under the leadership of the Gandhi family. “
