Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee continues its crackdown on party officials who created a row at a meeting attended by the All India Congress Committee in charge of Union Territory Dinesh Gundu Rao on 21 august.

CCP Chairman A.V Subramanian on Thursday suspended a party worker and served show cause notice on five other officials.

CCP suspended All India Fishermen Congress executive committee member Kangaiyan and asked five members, including two secretaries, to respond within a week stating the reason why action should not be taken against them for creating turmoil at the meeting, Mr. Subramanian said in a statement.

Immediately after the August 21 clashes at the CCP office, the party suspended five officials, including two general secretaries. Disciplinary action was taken against 11 Congress workers for their unruly behavior.

According to a prominent member of Congress, the AICC had ordered the CCP to crack the whip on anyone involved in creating trouble.

“The AICC took the incident seriously as it all happened in front of a chief delegated by the high command for the Political Affairs Committee meeting. His car was damaged and abuse thrown. It was like an insult to the high command itself,” he said.
