Nwoye, Ozigbo, others brought thugs to attack us – Anambra PDP Congress Committee –
In Congress to select the slate of ad hoc delegates from Anambra State’s 326 awards, some members of the state’s People’s Democratic Party including Tony Nwoye, Valentine Ozigbo and others forced the party’s hand to cancel the congress.
This was revealed in a letter written by the PDP Primary Constituency Congress Election Committee in 2022.
The committee, headed by President Ahmed Jibrin, revealed the actual events that happened in the state and not what some party members in the state led the public to believe.
The committee, in the letter dated May 1, 2022 and seen by this information platform, recounted what happened on the day of the neighborhood conventions.
The committee revealed that Nwoye, Ozigbo and a few others stormed the party secretariat with disbelievers and demanded the original result sheets, which were distributed at the time.
According to the committee, which also includes Captain Frank Ntima, the Hon. Amara Ogbu, Azubuike Odoh and Engr Ogbonna Victor as members, PDP members who brought thugs to the party secretariat revealed that the results of the congress were not favorable to them.
They forced the committee members to write a letter canceling the election of the three ad hoc delegates and forced a committee press conference.
The letter, according to the committee, was written under duress.
The decision to bring in disbelievers and force the hand of the committee, the letter reveals, was an afterthought.
The committee revealed in the letter to the national chairman of the party, Iyorcha Ayu: “They locked the entrance and forced the committee to write a letter canceling the exercise and after that forced us to hold a press conference.
“They first forced the committee to sign the photocopies of the results in our possession and handed them over to people on their own list of 3 local government election panelists.
“Later they canceled and asked us to simply cancel the elections.
“Hence the delivery of signed photocopies to theirs through the party’s administrative secretary.”
The letter also revealed that the committee members had been held hostage for more than two hours.
The committee concluded by declaring that the election was free and fair, except for the ugly incident described.
