CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), President Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Thursday that farmers as well as farm organizations can never be satisfied until the Congressional government implements the promised full farm loan waiver.
Sukhbir was speaking at a reception where the president of the intellectual cell of the Congress, Anish Sidana, joined the SAD with his team. The president of SAD appointed him his political adviser for urban areas.
Launching an attack on the chief minister, Sukhbir accused Channi of being the “biggest illegal colonizer” in the state and responsible for the proliferation of illegal settlements in the Kharar-Ropar belt in addition to controlling the activity of sand mining in the region. “The Chief Minister was known to patronize illegal settlements as well as the sand mafia. This is the reason why Channi played a prank on the people in the name of reducing the price of sand, ”Sukhbir said. People are not getting sand anywhere at Rs 5 per cubic foot, as announced by the chief minister, but the treasury has lost Rs 50 crore by advertising this lie, he added. He said the chief minister also offered false claims that oil prices were the cheapest in the region and also tried to deceive the Punjabis by reducing electricity tariffs by Rs 3 per unit up to to March 31.
Regarding the STF report case pending before the High Court, Sukhbir said: “No one is preventing the government of Punjab from catching the drug lords. He said it was strange that instead of arresting the drug lords, the Congressional government politicized the issue the same way it did in the sacrilege case.
He also challenged the state government to present a single piece of evidence against him in the sacrilege case. “Chief Minister, Interior Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa and DGP IPS Sahota may be held responsible under Article 120 (b) for instigating a criminal conspiracy to trap me in a bogus case which was revealed by the SAD. ”
Regarding the cancellation of his transport company’s bus permits, Sukhbir said they were canceled even without giving him notice. “We do not owe even a single rupee in taxes to the government of Punjab. On the other hand, the businesses of the congressional leaders are defaulting, but are not being prosecuted, ”Sukbir said, adding that the state also owed 280 crore rupees in taxes on the buses of the state transport company.
The SAD president said he was surprised after the peasant organizations said they were satisfied to have met the Chief Minister of the Punjab on Wednesday. Sukkhbir said farmers expected Kisan organizations to address the issue of the extreme shortage and black commercialization of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers with the chief minister during their meeting.

CHANDIGARH: The top leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of Punjab and MP Aman Arora, while strongly attacking the Congressional government over power deals, raised many crucial questions which neither the previous government answered Captain, nor the current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

He said the state government headed by Charanjit Singh Channi was also trying to mislead the people of Punjab. Speaking to a press conference at party headquarters on Tuesday, MP Aman Arora said the Congressional government is also cheating the Punjab on the power purchase agreements, as has the Akali-BJP government.

He said that on the basis of power purchase agreements, the ‘White Collar Mafia’ has remained unchanged for five and a half years and continuously works freely under the nose of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Although this issue was raised by the AAP in the Punjabi Assembly, the congressional government shied away from it and chose to remain silent. Aman Arora said the three private thermal power plants swindle the Punjab by thousands of crore rupees every year. Captain Amarinder Singh had also brought white paper, but then swept it under the carpet. The Akali-BJP and the Congress are birds of the same feather and the “White Mafia” runs fearlessly in the Punjab.

Aman Arora, while taking stock of the last ten years of Akali-BJP and the current Congressional government through the White Paper, said that the government of Punjab is only trying to throw dust in the eyes of the people for the elections. He said Manpreet Singh Badal brought a white paper to the Channi government regarding power purchase agreements, but this white paper is nothing more than a bunch of lies. The original white paper is 17 pages long, but apart from describing what happened under the Akali government, the misdeeds of those five and a half years under the Congressional government in 2006 and beyond are still hidden. For this reason, the number of these white papers was reduced to only nine and Manpreet Singh Badal brought them.

Manpreet Singh Badal began talks from 2007, but these power purchase agreements were approved on March 24, 2006, under the mandate of the government of Captain Amarinder Singh. Approval was received from Banawali and Rajpura units to create one thousand units each, for a total of 2000 units. But about 14 days before the election, PSPCL’s 2,000 MW unit was increased to 2,400 MW on January 20, 2017, under the government of Captain Amarinder Singh. The Akali-BJP government changed the Home Operate and Transfer (BOOT) Bill to BOO. Because according to BOOT the unit was to be from Punjab after 25 years. But the government changed it to Build on Operate (BOO) on January 20, 2007. The Congressional government is as much a partner in the destruction of Punjab as the Akali-BJP government.

On October 10, 2007, Manpreet Badal was finance minister in the Akali-BJP government cabinet and Parkash Singh Badal was the chief minister. At the time, the government argued that BOO was wrongly marked instead of BOOT. First in the government of Captain Amarinder, then Prakash Badal Manpreet Singh Badal was the common bond between them and who is now also Minister of the Channi government. About 2,200 acres of land were also purchased and donated by the government of the Punjab. Manpreet Badal and the government of Punjab agreed that the central sector received Rs. 1,482 crore from the government and the NPAs to the three private thermal power plants are Rs GBK. 3620 crore in just four years is more than Rs. 5000 crore has been allocated to these thermal power plants as fixed charges.

The government of Punjab did not keep any guarantees when signing the electricity deal. If the rice is to be sown in summer, then 14,000 MW are needed and in winter 6000 MW then 3000 MW are needed. But ignoring this, power purchase agreements were signed. While sections 9 and 11 have not been taken care of like Gujarat thermal power station. Under section 9, the state government should indicate that during which months electricity is not needed, then the thermal power plant can sell electricity anywhere outside and the government can avoid fixed charges. The Punjab only needs 14,000 MW of power for 4 to 5 months. If it had been given in writing on time, it could have been avoided, but the Congressional government did no such thing. According to article 11, 20% of electricity on the total cost of production could have benefited from it, but no discussions took place with private thermal power plants.

Manpreet Badal did not recover even one rupee over Rs. 1000 crore from Talwandi and Rajpura due to liquidated damage charges ie delay in project implementation. The Punjab will have to pay over Rs 7600 crore due to a bad power purchase contract. Apart from that, PSPCL had to pay Rs 3,400 crore as the cost of transporting the coal. But the petition for review has not been filed in any court for the past three and a half years. Instead of starting up the Pachwara coal reserves, the Punjab government buys low-quality coal from private coal reserves at high prices. Because of this, an additional burden of seven hundred crore rupees falls on the heads of the people of Punjab. But not even a letter has been written in five and a half years to start up Pachwara’s coal reserves. The same Apta company has filed a recovery case of Rs 1652 crore on the government of Punjab, but the congressional government is also sitting silently on this matter.

The Congressional government had claimed to keep the Bathinda thermal power plant running, but two Ropar units, including the thermal power plant built at a cost of Rs 737 crore, were also closed, while it could operate until 2030-31 . Five thermal power plant electricity purchase contracts were signed in three years with Mundra (Tata) on April 22, 2007, ie 90 paise per tranche; then on August 7, 2008, from Reliance 17 paise per unit and again in 2008-9 and 2010 with TSPL, GBL, NPL contracts ranging from 1.38 paise to 2.20 paise. The root of Punjab’s problems has been the Akali-BJP and the Congressional government and now the Congressional government is engaged in rhetoric just for the sake of winning the election.

Aman Arora said when rates are to be set only by the PSRC, what will the Congressional government do by passing a law. He added that the government of Punjab has sent termination notices to four projects in the Damodar Valley, but the highest electricity regulator APTA has asked the government of Punjab who they are to order the termination. of the project ? He said the basis for canceling the deal cannot be based on high electricity tariffs. The government of Punjab has made electricity cheaper by three rupees in the past, but has not been told where and how they will save money. There was a 20,000 crore debt to the government in 2010-11, now the 36 crore debt has been incurred. Like PSPCL, the Punjab government is trying to bankrupt the Punjab.

The West Bengal BJP said Thursday that Mamata Banerjee’s government should cut VAT on gasoline and diesel, taking cues from the Center, if it was serious about being pro-people. The TMC, however, called the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duties on gasoline and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively per liter “just eye drops”.

Describing the Center’s decision as a “gift from Diwali to the nation,” West Bengal Assembly opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari took to Twitter and said: “Now the government of the World Bank should follow suit and cut state taxes to cut rates further. ”

BJP National Vice President Dilip Ghosh tweeted that the TMC government, “which claims to be pro-people,” has its work cut out for reducing the VAT it imposes on petroleum products.

The party’s state chairman, Sukanta Majumdar, also made a similar request.

Claiming that the excise duty cut is “just eye drops,” TMC Secretary General and State Spokesman Kunal Ghosh nonetheless stressed that the meager reduction was announced after the rates have reached the ceiling.

“They should bring down the main component of the price,” he tweeted.

The TMC chief argued that the Center levies a higher tax on petroleum products than the state, and as such the reduction in excise duties would not have much impact on government finances. of the Union.

He further alleged that the Center gives BJP-led states more funding than those with opposition parties at the helm.

“BJP-led state governments receive their dues from the Center because of the taxes it levies, but Bengal remains private,” Ghosh said, reiterating TMC’s claim that the Union government is granting a “mother-in-law treatment” at Mamata Banerjee. government.

The Punjab’s Aam Aadmi (AAP) party has made serious allegations against the ruling Congress for betraying and pillaging the Punjab’s unemployed at every step, claiming that the Punjab’s language, culture and people were discriminated against by the government in job. recruitments. The AAP demanded that the government of Punjab immediately revoke the agreement with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for the recruitment process. in which Punjab Affairs Officer and MP Jarnail Singh, Opposition Leader Harpal Singh Cheema, MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Secretary General Harchand Singh Barsat and Jalalabad Constituency Officer Jagdeep Godly Kamboj were present. During the press conference, Harpal Singh Cheema said: “The policies and decisions of the Congressional government, promising ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ service; prove to be extremely fatal for the promising youth of Punjab. He said other states like Haryana have reserved 70 to 80 percent of government and private jobs for the unemployed in their respective states, but this is not the case in Punjab. As a result, young people from other states are taking jobs in government departments in Punjab. Cheema demanded that the Punjab domicile certificate be made compulsory for government recruitment in the Punjab and that it be given additional marks and that a maximum quota of 10% be maintained for applicants from outside states.

Harpal Singh Cheema said the government does not advertise vacancies in the first place. In most departments, 60 to 70 percent of section posts are vacant. Time passes by recruiting and outsourcing contracts or granting extensions to retirees; However, the promise made by Chief Minister Channi also fell as extensions were granted to retired employees aged 64 to 65 in the water resources department and other departments. The Punjab Civil Service Commission (PPSC) and the Punjab Subordinate Service Selection Board (PSSS) and subsequent recruitment through the TCS should be stopped. The company does not recruit in a fair and transparent manner. The company faces a number of cases due to irregularities and scams in the recruitment process. He said the trials for recruiting police officers should be conducted by the Punjab police instead of outside agencies. Meet Hayer alleged, “TCS does not give importance to Punjab and Punjabiyat in the recruitment process. For example in the gendarmes, sub-inspectors (technical), PSPCL, PSTCL, etc; Punjabi subjects are not taken at all. Hayer demanded that Punjabi subject matter be made compulsory and that most of the curriculum be based on Punjab, Punjabi, Punjabiyat and Punjabi culture and tradition.

Hayer said it should ensure that every item is taken from the same shift via offline support. Written documents taken online and in most shifts are not transparent; that is why articles are repeatedly rejected or postponed. He asked what type of reservation it was, where of the 2,374 clerk positions published by the PSSS board last week, only 344 positions were for the general category, which was only 14 , 4%. He further asked the government why the waiting list was removed from the final merit list during the recruitment process. If there is a waiting list, the best candidate on the waiting list will have a chance. Without a waiting list, the post left by the successful candidate remains vacant forever, he added. Harpal Singh Cheema further said that around 300 employees such as electricians, plumbers, porters, gardeners, carpenters etc. worked in the official residences of the Chief Minister. and Punjabi ministers for the past 15 to 20 years; which were outsourced by the previous Badal government instead of being regularized. He said the number of such employees in Punjab is over 20,000. Cheema said the contractors take Rs 21,717 per month from the government and only pay them Rs 14,000 to 16,000; which is “darkness under the lamp”. Cheema also demanded that contractual and outsourced recruitment in the Punjab and its institutions in Chandigarh be stopped and that existing workers be regularized in the departments.

Bhopal: By-elections for a Lok Sabha and three seats in the Assembly are planned in Madhya Pradesh. Although the results of these elections will not have much of an impact on the state’s BJP government. The Congress Party considers them to be the semi-finals of the next legislative elections in 2023. It is for this reason that the Congress Party seems to have put all its emphasis on these elections. Former chief minister and congressman Kamal Nath is involved in the same episode. He frequently organizes gatherings.

Also last Saturday, he held a public meeting for the Congress party candidate in Khandwa Lok Sabha. In the meantime, he criticized the BJP for the farmers’ protest and the current electricity crisis. He said, “Our culture cherishes society. Our country is a country where people of all religions, castes and peoples live with love and harmony under one flag. We must all protect our culture which is under attack together.

Referring to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, he said: “Babasaheb Ambedkar created a constitution in which people of all religions and cultures live today. SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday criticized the Congress-led government in Punjab over the current power situation, alleging that the crisis was entirely “man-made” and a direct consequence of “neglect. and lack of planning and preparation in advance. ”” His remarks come as state utility PSPCL said up to three hours of blackout a day would remain in the state until October 13. A severe coal shortage has forced the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) to cut power generation and impose a load loss.

“This (power crisis) is part of the overall administrative paralysis that plagues Punjab today as a result of the ruling party’s obsession with power games and vendetta politics.

“It is a crisis that was waiting to occur and it has nothing to do with the coal shortage so touted elsewhere. The Coal Ministry has clarified that there is no coal shortage in the country. This clearly shows that the government of Punjab is the real bad guy because it did not keep the coal reserves needed to deal with such situations, ”Badal said in a statement.

“This is what this congressional government is doing in Punjab that we have turned into a surplus state of electricity,” he said.

The former deputy chief minister said power was one of the priority areas of the previous Akali government.

In addition to revolutionizing the availability of electricity, the SAD government had placed special emphasis on green energy. The state has been recognized as the leader in adding solar power capacity, he said.

Badal further alleged that “the impending crisis once again highlights the stark contrast between the impeccable and effective manner in which Akali’s government led by Parkash Singh Badal has approached the people’s problems and the totally irresponsible and incompetent manner. whose current leaders are doing it ”. .

“When we took office in 2007, the state was used to daily power cuts from 2 to 4 pm. leaders are unable to handle the situation even when there is no additional loading pressure, ”the statement added.

The SAD chief said the current power crisis was easily predictable and manageable if the government had the time and will to prepare for it in advance.

“But they have wasted nearly five years either in a ‘power crisis’ within the party or in a vendetta against political rivals. They think they don’t need to rule or tackle the problems. of the people and that they can regain power simply by putting Akalis in power. prison on false allegations, “he said.

“Coal shortages are not new and they have happened in our time as well. We have always kept enough coal in our reserves and have never let the state run into such predictable and preventable crises,” he said. added Badal.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao attended the assembly session on Friday and gave clarifications on the central fund. Strongly opposing allegations made by members of Congress regarding the use of central funds, he said the allegations were “baseless and false.” Refuting claims by opposition parties, he reiterated that panchayat funds had never been misappropriated. During Question Time, Congressmen Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Sridhar Babu and Seethakka raised questions about the distribution of Panchayat Raj funds and the problems faced by sarpanches due to insufficient funds.

The chief minister said congressional allegations of the embezzlement of panchayat funds are “baseless”. He advised them not to speak in a bad way with false information in the congregation. He said the government made the sarpanches proud across the country by changing villages.

“We have seen many such incidents in rural areas where people have died from drinking contaminated water. We have solved this problem by providing drinking water to all households in the villages, ”he said. Panchayats elected unanimously and it was not even mentioned in the law. Recalling that MPs’ salaries were withheld during the Covid crisis, the CM claimed that the funds were paid to the panchayats on time. “Receiving funds from the panchayat is a constitutional right of the state, but not at the mercy of the Center. Over the past 10 years, the Congressional government has spent an average of Rs 4 for each person, while the TRS government spends Rs 650. Many previous governments are also in debt.

Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday his government would complete its five-year term amid internal rumblings in Congress in neighboring Punjab, where Amarinder Singh resigned as CM, and in Chhattisgarh.

Speaking during a program at his residence here to launch the “Prashasan Sharon ke Sang and Prashasan Gaon ke Sang” campaign, Gehlot said there was speculation about Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh also after Punjab.

“The congressional government of Rajasthan will not only complete its five years, but will return to power in the next state legislative elections,” he said.

Gehlot said that based on people’s comments, there is no anti-titular factor against his government.

In Rajasthan, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and Gehlot were locked in a struggle for leadership, while in Chhattisgarh after Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel completed his two and a half years in the post in June Camp TS Singhdeo claimed that the congressional leadership in 2018 agreed to hand over the post to him after the government completed half of its term.

Amarinder Singh resigned as chief minister, claiming he had been humiliated by Congress, eliciting a strong response from the party, with senior leader Harish Rawat saying the party still gave him respect.

When launching the campaign, Gehlot also said he would re-assign the Department of Urban Development and Housing to Shanti Dhariwal if Congress wins the next elections in Rajasthan because he has worked hard for the campaign.
