On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi swept through Congress in Germany. He stressed that his BJP government is making sure that the people of the country receive maximum benefits. He was referring to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s remarks, which the Supreme Court has already pointed out, that only a small part of the country’s revenue made it into people’s pockets. The BJP has used this statement repeatedly to highlight its success in ensuring that people benefit from the country’s progress.

“The way technology is integrated into governance in India today shows the political will of the New India… From now on, no prime minister will have to cry out, ‘I sent Re 1 from Delhi, but to barely 15 paise reach the people,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The BJP government has transferred more than 22 lakh crore to beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer over the past eight years, according to the PM. “New India not only plans for a secure future, it also takes risks, innovates and incubates. Around 2014, I remember that there were only 200 to 400 companies in our country. Today, there are currently over 68,000 start-ups and dozens of unicorns. » PM added

Highlighting the BJP’s efforts to bring states together, Prime Minister Modi again attacked the Congress and said that in the past, the country was one but there were two constitutions. He further questioned the former government and asked why it took so long to unite these states? Finally, he said that the BJP government had succeeded in uniting the states.

On Monday, Prime Minister Modi started his three-country European tour with Germany. On Tuesday he will travel to Denmark, after which he will travel to France.

Jharkhand has been plunged into a deep political crisis, with Chief Minister Hemant Soren facing serious charges of corruption and wrongdoing. The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress-RJD alliance is bracing for the likely disqualification of Soren as an MP and the resulting maneuvers for power among allies and lobbies within the JMM.

Hemant Soren, who is also the current chairman of JMM, had a few years ago secured a mining lease on 0.88 acres of land in the Angara block of Ranchi. It applied for environmental clearance on September 9 last year, and clearance was granted by the National Environmental Impact Assessment Authority on September 18.

The chief minister holds both the mining and environment portfolios, and the BJP was quick to accuse him of corruption and abuse of power. Although Soren secured the cancellation of the mining lease issued to him once his predecessor and BJP National Deputy Chairman Raghubar Das sought his disqualification as an MP, the damage was done.

The BJP complained to Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais who sought the opinion of the Election Commission of India under Article 192 of the Constitution on whether Soren could be disqualified from the post. ‘State Assembly. ECI had requested and received authenticated documents regarding the mining lease from the state government.

The ECI will now take an appeal to grant Soren an opportunity to be heard in the case, as requested by JMM and its ally, Congress. The ECI, we learn, is examining whether the granting of a mining permit and the hasty environmental clearance granted to it constitute an offense under the Prevention of Corruption Act and lead to its disqualification as a member of the State Assembly.

Legal experts said swarajya it is very clear that Soren held a for-profit position (as a tenant of government property to conduct a for-profit business) while being an MP and this is a serious violation of existing rules and standards. Therefore, his disqualification is quite likely.

A Jharkhand High Court bench consisting of Chief Justice Ravi Ranjan and Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, hearing a petition on the matter earlier this month, took a dim view of the abuse of Soren’s alleged power and called it a “serious matter”. The High Court has served notice on Soren and the state government and, say legal experts, if it does not get a satisfactory response, it can also order an independent inquiry. Additionally, central agencies like the ED and SFIO are planning an investigation into Soren’s mining lease.

“Hemant Soren has engaged in corrupt practices and abused his office to bestow favors on his relatives and loved ones since he took office in December 2019. Grant mining lease and contracts to members of the family amounts to a conflict of interest and a criminal function under the Prevention of Corruption Act,” said Raghubar Das swarajya.

This controversy over mining leases is not the only one that has shaken Hemant Soren. In January this year, Das revealed another case involving Hemant Soren’s younger brother and MP Dumka Basant Soren. According to Das, Basant Soren operated a company – Grand Mining Company Pvt Ltd – in Santhal Parganas and illegally exported stone chips to Bangladesh, thereby causing a loss of Rs 8 crore to the state.

“Illegal coal, stone and sand mining is carried out by the mafia in the tribal heartland of Santhal Parganas under the patronage of Basant Soren,” Das said. “Hemant Soren did not deliberately auction sand ghats for mining over the past two years to facilitate illegal sand extraction. My government had requested letters of intent for this sand mining and even pre-screened some companies through a transparent process, but this government suspended that process to allow illegal sand mining,” the official said. former chief minister. swarajya.

The BJP also alleged, and produced documents in support of its charges, that the chief minister’s media adviser, Abhishek Prasad, obtained a stone mining lease on an 11.7-acre plot in the village of Pakariya of Sahibganj district in April 2021. A similar stone mining lease was also handed over last year to CM Assembly Representative Pankaj Mishra.

Earlier this week, another scandal hit Hemant Soren when Raghubar Das revealed that the state Department of Industry (which Soren also heads) had allocated 11 acres of land in an industrial cluster in the capital of state to a private company – Sohrai Live Pvt Ltd — which is owned by Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren.

“The government has promised to provide industrial plots for tribal youths. But only the chief minister’s wife was given an 11-acre piece of land in the Barhe Industrial Park for a meat processing unit. Soren breached the rules of Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act which prohibits a Chief Minister or a serving Minister, or any of his family members, from obtaining a government lease or contract,” Das said.

The center is likely to order investigations by its agencies into these allegations as well. Das is confident that Soren will be found guilty, and his days as the state’s chief minister are numbered.

The JMM is, of course, very shaken. The party dismissed the charges against Soren and said no offense was committed. JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya accused the BJP of making false allegations “to create an opportunity for central agencies to intervene and destabilize the government”.

Congress also sided with Soren and dismissed the charges against him. A congressional spokesman said Soren committed no wrongdoing and the mining lease in his name was canceled as soon as allegations were raised. He also said the chief minister’s family members were free to pursue their own business ventures.

But this is only bravado and the nervousness of the JMM is evident. Governor Ramesh Bais’ meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday April 27 to brief them on the “political situation” in the state has clearly shaken the JMM.

Party insiders said swarajya that the disqualification of Hemant Soren would destabilize the government and that the process of finding his successor would create deep fissures within the party. Although Hemant Soren’s brother Basant, who is also an MP, is the leading contender for the top job, he is a novice in politics and a first MP with no administrative experience.

Moreover, a number of JMM veterans, contemporaries of party founder Shibu Soren, will not take neophyte Basant Soren’s elevation to CM position very well. A few senior JMM leaders and ministers see themselves as legitimate contenders for the post and will oppose the elevation of Basant.

This will trigger infighting within the JMM and allow the BJP to fish in troubled waters. Both JMM and Congress fear that a fractious JMM will give the BJP a golden opportunity to create more divisiveness and even cause a split within the JMM. The chances that the JMM-Congrès-RJD government will collapse if the Prime Minister is disqualified are quite high, say political observers.

And that’s why the JMM is nervous. Party patriarch Shibu Soren, who is over 78, is ill and unable to hold the party together in case Hemant Soren has to resign from office. The group will then become rudderless and find themselves embroiled in intense in-fighting.

Political observers say many JMM alumni were unhappy with the anointing of Hemant Soren by his father (commonly known as Guruji). They have long felt that many senior leaders have not been adequately rewarded for their sacrifices and contributions. These leaders have been angered by dynastic politics and will not accept Basant Soren becoming the CM.

It is a known fact that Acting Congresswoman Sonia Gandhi, who is pushing ahead with her agenda to build the party across the country and return the party to power in several states, is taking the prashant political strategist Anda kishore to this extent.

Owaipu says upheaval has resurfaced in a key state where the party is in power as she works to strengthen the party. Sachin Pilot, youth leader of Rajasthan, met her and suggested that she be given the pedestal of the CM.

The government of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been rocked by a series of uprisings by several MPs who support him, including Sachin Pilot, last year. With this, the congress leaders decided to remove pilot sachin from the position of deputy chief of the CPC CM.

Subsequently, talks were held and an attempt was made to reach an agreement between the two leaders. Recently, however, Sachin Pilot’s proposal has been floated by Delhi bigwigs.

According to sources in Delhi, Sachin Pilot recently met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi to discuss Rajasthan affairs and her future. pilot sachin seems to have put before chief pilot sonia gandhi the fact that he wants to work as chief minister.

Sachin Pilot spoke to reporters after meeting Sonia. the institutional affairs of rajasthan were discussed on the strength of the party.

The pilot revealed that Sonia had suggested that Congress be brought back into power. He said Rajasthan had a tradition of changing governments every five years, but if they worked hard and moved in the right direction, the congress would return.

Jaipur: A The 300-year-old Shiva temple at Sarai Mohalla in Alwar district of Rajasthan has been demolished with a bulldozer. There was resentment among Hindutva organizations for climbing the Shivalaya while wearing shoes and operating cutting machines on the idols. In protest, a complaint was filed against MPs EO, SDM and Rajgarh in the municipality for filing a complaint at the police station. However, due to the political unrest, the police have yet to register any cases.

The BJP is also attacking the Congress Gehlot government over this. The head of the BJP’s IT cell, Amit Malviya, said it is the secularism of Congress that hurts the faith of Hindus. Malviya tweeted: “A 300 year old Shiva temple has been demolished in the name of development in Alwar, Rajasthan… Shedding tears on Karauli and Jahangirpuri and hurting the faith of Hindus – this is congress secularism. ” In another tweet, Amit Malviya said: “On April 18, Rajgarh city administration in Rajasthan bulldozed homes and pucca shops of 85 Hindus without notice.”

Rajasthan Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas alleged that the BJP was lying. The Chairman of the Municipal Body Council of Rajgarh belongs to the BJP. They demolished temples and houses to enlarge them by bringing a proposal to the council. The temple was demolished at their request. While our member, that is to say the Congress, continued to oppose. Government minister Gehlot promised that if there were no legal obstacles, he would have the temple rebuilt.

What’s the problem:-

Indeed, a case of demolition of three Hindu temples at Rajgarh in Alwar has come to light. Under the guise of encroaching on the master plan, the Rajgarh administration demolished three 300-year-old temples. The idols of Lord Shiva, Hanuman ji and other deities installed in these temples were vandalized and when locals protested they were forcibly removed by the police. The incident was a topic of discussion throughout the region. Since April 17, such cases have been continuously coming to light in Rajgarh.

The government should “stop gouging” Indians already reeling from record inflation and high taxes, Congress said on Monday citing reports of a possible change in GST rates. Congress Secretary General and Chief Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has claimed that the government is preparing to impose a new dose of taxes amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh crore by raising the goods and services tax slab (GST) lowest from 5% to 8% even when people suffer from high tax burden.

“Preparing to impose new taxes of Rs 1.50,000 crore. Modi government is finding new ways to mow down Indians by increasing GST slab from 5% to 8%,” he said on Twitter.

He worried that many everyday items, including spices, tea and sugar, would become more expensive if the GST slab was raised.

“People are already suffering even before the GST increase from 5% to 8%. Wholesale inflation hits a new high of 14.55% in March. Prices for gasoline/diesel-gas-CNG- PNG-lemon-veg destroyed everyone’s budget. Stop scamming Indians for God’s sake!” Surjewala said in a tweet.

“A new inflation record every month…Wholesale price inflation (WPI) hit a new high of 14.55% in March, down from 13.11% in February. Friends of TV and media is only interested in Hindu-Muslims while people’s budget is bleeding,” he also said.

Surjewala said he is also concerned that charcoal, biogas, fertilizers, life-saving medicines, incense sticks, hearing aids and the braille watch will become expensive as these items currently fall under the 5% bracket. of the GST.

He referred to a news report that cites sources to say that the GST Board, at its meeting next month, will likely consider a proposal to remove the 5% slab by moving certain mass consumer goods to 3% and the rest at 8 percent.

Currently, the GST has four bands at 5, 12, 18 and 28%. There is also a list of exemptions for items such as unbranded and unpackaged food products.

The Trinamool Congress will complete the first year of its third term in office in West Bengal in May. But violent incidents punctuated its political beat, and judicial directives aimed at fair investigation brought in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate major incidents.

Besides the legal arguments in court, there are two other fronts that keep the Trinamool machinery and state government engaged in a back and forth response cycle. While the Raj Bhavan continues to shine a light on troubling issues and administrative loopholes, the opposition – mainly the BJP – is once again keeping the ruling party on its toes. Bengal regained the attention of the high party hierarchy after elections in five states.

Tuesday’s directive from the Calcutta High Court that the CBI will investigate the alleged gang rape and death of an underage girl in Hanskhali in West Bengal adds to the list of several incidents that have been handed over to the agency. central. It is the latest in a series of major incidents that the court has ordered the CBI to investigate.

Read | 5 CBI investigations in 18 days: trouble brewing for West Bengal government?

Following Trinamool’s victory last year in May, violent incidents were reported. On August 19, the High Court in Calcutta handed over the investigation of the incidents to the CBI.

Covid cases and restrictions, festivities, preparation for municipal elections and elections in five states – it seemed that the post-Covid scenario might be more suited to economic growth. However, incidents in the recent past have sparked a new pattern of violence.

Student leader Anis Khan was found dead in mysterious circumstances on February 19. It is alleged that four people, one of whom claimed to be in police uniform, had visited Anis before his death. The incident triggered numerous protests.

In less than a month, since March 25, CBI has been assigned five investigations. In Bogtui village, Birbhum district, nine people were charred to death after houses were burned down in retaliation for the murder of local Trinamool chief Bhadu Sheikh. The investigation was forwarded to the CBI on March 25. Subsequently, the investigation into Bhadu Sheikh’s death was also handed over to the CBI on April 8.

On April 4, the court also ordered a CBI investigation into the murder of Tapan Kandu, the Congress Councilor of Jhalda Municipality in Purulia District. Again on April 12, the central agency was assigned to investigate the death of Niranjan Baishnab, an eyewitness to Kundu’s murder and the Hanshkhali gang rape incident.

The Raj Bhavan and the state do not really go together. Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar continued to regularly raise questions about administrative decisions and publicly expressed his dissatisfaction on several occasions. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and several senior Trinamool leaders have continued to point out that sometimes Raj Bhavan’s expressions go beyond the case for a governorship.

On the political front, the BJP came back stronger to contend with, although it failed to repeat its success in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Visits by BJP members to relevant places, investigative committees and tweets from national leaders have once again focused on Bengal.

The left, supported by its student and youth wings, is back on the streets. Congress, with a very nominal presence, took out motorcades whenever possible. In addition, activists who are unhappy with several issues have resumed holding meetings on street corners, unless permission is given by the administration.
